The JBG Companies are developing the southwest corner of 13th and U into an 8 story residential building with ground floor retail. In exchange for several zoning variances and the disruption of construction, JBG has agreed to commit $600,000 to neighborhood projects over the next year or two.
I've been asked to sit on a committee that will determine exactly how the money is spent, hopefully prior to their March 4th Zoning Board hearing. Below is a handout of approved categories for use of the funds, but the specific projects are not set in stone (for example, BikeShare is already adding a station at 13th st without this money). I would love to hear from 2B09 residents about your thoughts and ideas for specific projects.

13th & U Neighborhood Handout |
The committee meets on Thursday night for the first time and includes representatives from U Street Neighborhood Association, Shaw Dupont Neighborhood Association, Meridian Hill Neighborhood Association, ANC 1B, parents, and more. We will continue to meet through February and there are several opportunities to have your voice heard.
Please reply here, or send me an email if you have thoughts on how this funding can be best used to improve our neighborhood. This is a fantastic opportunity and I'm grateful to be included.
