We have a packed agenda for the Wednesday, January 8th monthly Dupont ANC meeting. Some items specific to 2B09 include:
In addition, I'm very excited to welcome DC Fire and EMS Chief Kenneth Ellerbe to our neighborhood. The chief will present on a few new initiatives from the department and then take questions.
As you may know, my full time job is to investigate ways to strengthen ambulance systems across the country and so I'll be taking this opportunity to ask the chief about what plans he has to increase the quality of our emergency medical system in DC. I want to know specifically how his department measures performance for ambulance calls that goes beyond response times.
There have been several significant issues reported in the media over the last year with the fire department, including a shortage of paramedics and transport ambulances; these are a matter of supply and I'd like to know what the city is doing to decrease demand. What can be done in our community to educate residents on when and why an ambulance is needed? How can we take care of minor but chronic conditions before they escalate into a medical emergency?
What other questions do you have for the chief that I can bring to his attention on the 8th?
As always, our meetings are at 7pm at the Brookings Institution, 1775 Massachusetts Ave. I hope to see you there!
- Application for an off-premise alcohol license for Trader Joe's at 14th and U (hopefully opening in March!).
- A rehearing of an application for a wine and beer license for Amsterdam Falafal at 14th and Swann - the owner has asked the ANC to support their pending application.
- A public space application for Room and Board at 14th and T to display furniture on their patio on T St.
