This afternoon the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board will hold a hearing on the proposed liquor license moratorium for 14th and U Streets. I wrote previously on the moratorium here.
At our May meeting, we voted to join our colleagues in ANCs 1B, 2F and 6E in opposition to this proposal. Today I will represent ANC 2B and testify before the ABC Board requesting that they deny the petition in its entirety. You can read our resolution as passed below:

My testimony will focus on three major points:
It's a wonderful honor to represent our neighborhood on this issue. As always, if you have questions or comments about the moratorium or any other issue, please do not hesitate to call or email me here.
- To assure the Board that we did not come to our conclusion hastily or lightly and that our resolution represents the broad viewpoints and considerable experience of the entire neighborhood.
- To stress that though we do not deny some issues arise from the operation of liquor license establishments, we do not believe a moratorium is an appropriate mechanism to deal with those issues in this circumstance.
- To discuss the way forward and offer to partner with the Board in finding more reasonable solutions to the concerns of neighbors.
