At its regular meeting on March 12 the Dupont Circle ANC voted unanimously to establish a standing committee on transportation and public infrastructure. I am honored to serve as its chair for 2014.

You can read more about the role and scope of the TPI Committee here.

My colleagues expressed great interest in serving on the committee and the following were voted in as members:
  • Kevin O'Connor, 2B02
  • Kishan Putta, 2B04
  • Mike Silverstein, 2B06
  • Will Stephens, 2B08

NOW WE ARE SEEKING PUBLIC MEMBERS

Before setting an agenda for the committee, we need full membership and input from the public. I invite any 2B residents or business owners to contact me to discuss joining this new committee and improving the transportation system and public spaces in our neighborhood.

The committee will likely meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7pm, though we may not meet every month. At every meeting there will be an opportunity for any 2B community member to bring issues and ideas to the committee.

I look forward to hearing from folks interested in becoming committee members for 2014. We'll nominate and vote on committee members at our April 9th ANC meeting and then host our first TPI meeting on April 23rd. Thanks!

Hello Noah, I am very pleased to hear that ANC-2B will form a Transportation Committee.
I actually live outside your SMD in 2B09. Like any car owner without an off-street space, I have plenty of parking woes and stories to relay. Some issues I'm concerned with are
- parking enforcement, especially that enforcement is based on signage and not on DCMR parking regulations
- how to bring about conformance between street signage and parking regulations
- the impact of public space construction on street parking, especially the New Hampshire Avenue reconstruction, but going forward, how to mitigate impacts on future projects
- the criteria for issuance of temporary no parking signs
- the balance between resident-only and resident-preference street parking

Hello Noah,
I was surprised to see this announcement in my mailbox, 8 months after the creation of the ANC-2B transportation and infrastructure committee. But my concern about these issues remains, and I read with interest the resolutions that the committee forwarded last week. I would still like to participate in the discussion, and hope you can keep me posted on where and when meetings of the committee occur. Did you decide to meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month? Do you meet at the Brookings, or some other venue?
